Offerings

Dyson offers two conference, workshop, or retreat presentations

1. The Last Query
A one to two-hour talk on how to use what's unique about each writer and each book to construct a unique query and find the right agent.

Dyson sold her first novel by simply cold querying agents the old fashion way.  She read everything she could find on constructing a query and was disappointed by much of the examples in books and confused by the conflicting advice.  So she started from scratch and re-thought the query process, imagining herself as an agent and creating a unique approach that past audience members have said didn't just explain the process, but excited them about the process.  A nearly impossible accomplishment.

2. The Hero's Journey: Literature as the Original Self Help
A multi-media presentation with Dyson's two writing sisters, Wendy Shaw and Jana Osturgut, discussing how to use concepts of the hero's journey to bring an epic quality to your book and to your life.

Built around the concepts in myth-historian Joseph Campbell's work, Dyson and her two sisters feature an interactive, intense and provocative two-four hour workshop on applying the universal literary concepts of the Hero's Journey to our works-in-progress, and how we can use those concepts in our own lives to overcome, to triumph, to live as heroes.
