The Wayward Book Tour

The Wayward Book Tour is an experiment in the connections among people who love books.  It began when the author received advance reader copies of her novel.  She was to send these copies to a “big mouth” list, which means to influential people who could help her first novel gain pre-publication buzz.

After much brainstorming and too much wine, Dyson and her husband realized they didn’t really know influential, buzzy people.  But they knew they had reader friends and that these friends had friends.

So they decided to send several books on tour through an expanding circle of friends, in other words, on a wayward tour.

If you received a Wayward Book

Read as much of the novel as you desire.  As you do, jot down your comments, underline, mark it up.  Feel free to stick notes or pictures inside.  Your contribution will join others as this book tours, becoming well worn and ink ridden as it goes.

Give the novel to the one person you know who loves books and talking about them more than you.  Include a note to this person, explaining why you chose them.  If you can’t think of anyone, just leave the book at an airport or dentist office or wherever and let fate have its way.  Be quick about it; this book likes to travel fast.

Track the touring books by adding your name, location, and the date you sent yours off on the back flap as well as on the tour tracking page to the left.  Your book’s tracking number is on the inside flap and on the bookmark.  You can even send a photo of yourself reading or of the dismal condition of your book, which will be posted onthe Wayward Tour photo page.
